June is here! That means summer is on the horizon and along with it comes the anticipation of all things fun. Kids look forward to the last day of school, families and friends make plans for the beach, lawns are manicured and landscaped. It’s the time when things are bright and more carefree.
Ahhh, carefree. That’s the word and now is the time to be just that, let your hair down and live a little. Chances are that you’ve been working really hard for the past five months and now you owe it to yourself to enjoy some down time. It could be as simple as sitting on your patio with a glass of wine or going out to dinner, or as adventurous as an impromptu weekend getaway. Just be sure to do something exciting because all work and no play makes for a dull life! Besides, it’s not healthy to work constantly with no break for fun or moments free of planning, decision making or problem solving.
I returned from Jamaica a few days ago and it was so relaxing. I took a book and my iPad with the intention of reading and working on a project that I’m really excited about. But I did not open the book once nor did I turn on the iPad. I realized that I wanted to be free of processing information and I didn’t want to have to think about anything that was too intense. The goal of the trip was to have fun and I embraced every moment of it. It’s in those moments that we recharge so we can go back to our dedicated schedules.
I’m looking forward to more good times as the summer rolls on!
Are you ready for some fun?
